Litera Meat Greenlights the Installation of a Photovoltaic Plant, One of the Most Important Self-Consumption Projects Carried Out in Aragón

Our company will annually generate over 9 GWh of energy from renewable sources, reducing CO2 emissions in 1,500 tons annually

One of the goals of the environmental policy of Litera Meat is to promote a sustainable and responsible corporate development, understanding sustainability and respect for the environment as a long-term vision that creates value and progress in our company.

In this sense, Litera Meat has initiated the proceedings for the start-up of a photovoltaic project for self-consumption through the installation of a series of solar panels on the roof of the meat plant, which has a built surface of 62,000 m2. This project, as stated by our Director of Infrastructures Jacobo Martínez “will generate about the 11 per cent of the annual electrical consumption of the plant from clean and renewable energy and is part of our endorsement for efficacy, constant improvement and technological progress”. The project has been designed and carried out by the company Solarfam Ingeniería and is “the biggest built on just one roof in Aragón”. It will cover 34,000 m2 with over 13,100 modules in a coplanar structure for room and slant optimisation. With an investment of over 4.5 million euros, this self-supply initiative involves a power output of 7.5 megawatts peak (MWp) that will annually produce about 9.4 million kWh of renewable energy. These are very relevant figures in favour of sustainability which equal to a 1,500-ton reduction of the annual CO2 emissions, that is the electrical consumption of about 2,700 Spanish houses.

Also, by implementing this project, Litera Meat has opted for the technological advances of the photovoltaic sector through the incorporation of glass-glass encapsulated modules with bifacial functioning and cutting-edge type-N technology, considered to be highly efficient and made of the most environmentally friendly components. With this important investment, Litera Meat reasserts their commitment to the environment, making the most of the natural resources around, strengthening their competitiveness and opting for a more sustainable future.
