• Promoting professional development and being an educational reference within the province is one of the aims of Litera Meat’s training centre, which progressively expands its educational offer
Binéfar, 25 March 2020
The Official Gazette of the Government of Aragón published last Tuesday 24 March a resolution by which the General Directorate of Quality and Food Safety officially approved Litera Meat to formally teach a course on keeping and manipulating animals in livestock transport, a specialisation targeting preferably workers or unemployed people belonging to this area, as well as all those who are interested in working in livestock transport.
This programme comprises a general and a specific module dealing, not only with the applying legislation, but also with the measures and conditions required in livestock handling to guarantee the welfare and protection of animals. The various theoretical and practical contents of the course will be explained by Litera Meat’s veterinarians, who in turn will evaluate students. At the end of the course, students who have passed all the examinations will be granted a special license issued by the Department of Rural Development and Sustainability certifying they have completed the course successfully.
Cristina López, head of Litera Meat’s training area, has expressed her satisfaction, since ‘the educational offer is being progressively expanded, allowing for knowledge update and a greater professionalisation of our work team.’ The different courses taught at Litera Meat’s training centre are open to external personnel, providing added value to the local community, since until now there were no training courses available for many specialisations in the province of Huesca.
The current situation generated by COVID-19 has caused the interruption of various training programmes, which will be resumed as soon as possible. All information on this matter will be updated on Litera Meat’s Website.
